Challenge: Scottish law firm Turcan Connell has extensive experience advising clients looking to invest in the Scottish forestry market – but wanted an opportunity to showcase its forestry expertise to more potential investors at a UK level.
Solution: PA Cooperative proposed holding a business breakfast on forestry investment in Scotland at the Houses of Parliament in London – then brought in a second partner and secured expert forestry sector speakers, as well as an MP to host the event.
Result: A successful event was held in June 2019, attended by a targeted audience of 50 investors and would-be investors, in The Churchill Room at the House of Commons. Drew Hendry, MP for Inverness and Nairn, welcomed guests before three speakers – Confor CEO Stuart Goodall, David Robertson of Scottish Woodlands Ltd and Don Macleod of Turcan Connell – explained the opportunities and took audience questions. David Lee from PA Cooperative chaired the event and wrote a report, capturing the main outcomes from the event, which Turcan Connell shared with delegates.
Impact: Lawyers from Turcan Connell engaged before, during and after the event with a range of investors. Both Turcan Conell and Scottish Woodlands Ltd reported the event had delivered new business and new contacts, with the prospect of further work in future
Testimonial: “David and Neil bring detailed knowledge of event planning and hosting, the political environment and report writing to deliver a really high-quality package. Their attention to detail and expertise meant I was confident the event would run well, allowing the Turcan Connell team to concentrate on potential sales leads and networking opportunities.”
